Ori and the Will of the Wisps price comparison

After Ori and the Blind Forest, Ori and the Will of the Wisps is now the second part of the Metroidvania-style Jump&Run, in which our hero Ori now has to save not only the Forest of Nibel, but an entire land.

The previous game, "Ori and the Blind Forest", was already an enormously sophisticated platformer that thrilled players with its cleverly devised level system and fairytale scenario. Nevertheless, behind this cute facade there was a challenging jump'n'run adventure that was rewarded with precision and the urge to explore. The Ori and the Will of the Wisps release takes up where the prequel left off in a playful way.

This time the story revolves around Kuro's descendant Ku: The orphaned owl is raised in a harmonious introductory sequence by the good-natured Naru and the playful spider Gumo. It was gripping, great to play and simply beautiful to howl: Ori and the Blind Forest is considered one of the best Metroidvania platformers ever and was rightly showered with prizes.

And maybe in the course of his new adventure he'll finally learn his true destiny. The Unity engine shows the world, which is three times as big as its predecessor, from the side again. With Ori, you'll again dash, jump and climb from the 2D side view through a beautifully designed, coherent game world, which despite the most diverse locations seems to come from a single source. But technically the team, which has grown to 70 to 80 people, has further upgraded. Ori and the Will of the Wisps like its predecessor, we are gradually unlocking new skills and abilities that open up new areas of the world.

However, not everything remains the same: Besides new physics and light effects, the world around Nibel also provides new impulses in the gameplay. For example with side tasks that Ori can now complete. Obtaining an Ori and the Will key for playing on Steam is easy, so dont wait too long. New possibilities of movement expand your scope of action, for example you learn early on to swing on poles, to hang on surfaces with an energy bar or to climb along moss webs. Or a weapon system including a versatile grappling hook, which according to the developers is as broadly diversified as the weapons in the current Diablo, for example. This time you don't have a ghost with automatic aiming around you. Instead, you will find an Energy Blade at the very beginning, which Ori uses to defend themselves in close combat.

So when bought our Ori and the Will key this should allow us to adapt the Ori to our own unique style of fighting. Will of the Wisps has some real boss battles this time. But there is one thing we can rely on already now: That Ori and the Will of the Wisps will cast a spell on us, just like their predecessor.

The solo campaign will be accompanied by ghost and time trials to get from start to finish as quickly as possible. Players will compete for the best times in online leaderboards and can join ghosts of other players. With one purchase, Ori and the Will of the Wisps can be played on PC via Steam Key, Xbox One and the upcoming Xbox Series X. Likewise, the game is part of the Xbox Game Pass. There are currently no plans for a Switch or PlayStation version.
