The first-person shooter Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is the sequel to the successful sub-series Black Ops and is developed like the predecessors of Treyarch. For the first time in Call of Duty's history, Black Ops 4 dispenses with a classic single-player campaign. Instead, the developers want to tell the stories of the Specialists only in solo missions that serve as practice missions. Black Ops 4 nevertheless consists of three main pillars: The classic multiplayer, which is set in the near future but doesn't yet know any jetpacks and wallruns (and thus plays between Black Ops 2 and 3).
The zombie mode, which this year comes with three different scenarios for its release (a melee battle in ancient Rome, an adventure on the Titanic and a remake of Blood of the Dead). And third, the all-new Battle Royale Blackout mode. Here 88 players compete in the Death Struggle on by far the largest map in CoD history. Hotspots on the map consist of map classics from the predecessors such as Array, Raid, Stronghold or Turbine.
Even zombies and special zombie equipment like the Ray Gun appear. There are also four vehicles, weapon customizations, and characters from all black-ops timelines, including zombie scenarios. The Battle Royal mode Blackout replaces the campaign this year. On the PC, Black Ops 4 will be released exclusively for Blizzard's Battle.net, also a novelty for the series. The PC version is also being developed by Activision's porting studio Beenox.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 does not offer a single player campaign, unlike the series. Allegedly a story campaign was never planned.
But that doesn't mean that there is no story in Black Ops 4. Apart from multiplayer, blackout and zombie mode there are solo missions. And they even tell a story in video sequences.
The solo missions refer to a total of ten Specialists in Black Ops 4, who mainly play a role in multiplayer. In the main menu of the game you will find the item "Specialists HQ". There's a mission for each character.
